Poetry, TX – May 2026 – Poetry Community Christian School (PCCS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Nelson University that will provide PCCS high school students the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in General Studies while completing their secondary education at PCCS high school.

Through Nelson University’s Early College Credit program, high schoolers at PCCS can earn 61 hours of college credit, positioning them for a seamless transition into higher education and significantly reducing the time and cost required to complete a bachelor’s degree.

A distinguishing feature of the program is PCCS’s “Flex-Plan,” designed to maximize accessibility and student success. Under this model, students can begin earning college credits as early as their freshman and sophomore years, with flexible course offerings available during the spring, summer, and fall terms. This structure allows students to benefit from academic pacing and balance coursework with extracurricular and personal commitments.

The program maintains rigorous academic standards while leveraging PCCS’s dedicated faculty with advanced degrees. Courses in English, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Speech, Government, and Bible will be taught by embedded PCCS instructors who hold master’s degrees, ensuring both academic excellence and continuity within the school’s Christ-centered educational environment.

“PCCS has offered dual credits toward one year of college credits for nearly two decades. This partnership represents a important step forward in expanding opportunities for our students,” said Dr. Horan, the PCCS president. “By combining the strengths of PCCS and Nelson University, we are equipping students with both a strong spiritual foundation and a head start on their college journey.”

The collaboration reflects PCCS’s ongoing commitment to academic innovation, affordability, and holistic student development. Graduates of the program will leave PCCS not only with a high school diploma but also with a fully accredited Associate’s Degree, giving them a competitive advantage in college admissions and future career pursuits.

Enrollment for the Early College Credit program begins with the new program launching this fall.
