ROYSE CITY, Texas — Drivers traveling through Royse City should be prepared for continued overnight traffic changes at Interstate 30 and FM 548 as crews work on the ongoing I-30 widening project.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the FM 548 intersection at I-30 is being closed to through traffic overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. while work continues on the westbound I-30 bridge at FM 548. The nightly detours are expected to remain in place until that bridge work is complete.
Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signs, watch for changing traffic patterns and allow additional travel time through the construction area.
The work is part of the $348 million I-30 corridor expansion project, which will widen I-30 and add continuous frontage roads from SH 205 to the Hunt County line. The overall project is expected to be completed in early 2028.
The project is also part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes initiative, which is designed to address congestion in major metropolitan areas.
