Rockwall County Invites Community Input for Thoroughfare Plan Update Through April 20

Rockwall County, TX – April 2026 – Rockwall County is calling on residents, commuters, and local stakeholders to help shape the future of transportation by participating in a community survey for its upcoming Thoroughfare Plan update.

In partnership with Freese and Nichols, Inc., the County is working to develop a forward-looking transportation plan that supports continued growth and evolving mobility needs. This long-range initiative will guide future roadway connections, preserve critical corridors, and enhance safety and efficiency across Rockwall County.

Building on the County’s Strategic Plan 2050 and the 2019 Thoroughfare Plan, the update will incorporate the latest data, regional collaboration, and—most importantly—community input.

Residents are encouraged to share their feedback through the official survey, which will remain open through April 20, 2026.

“This is an important opportunity for our community to have a direct impact on how Rockwall County grows and moves in the years ahead,” said Jim Barto, Rockwall County Public Information Officer. “Public input is essential to ensuring our transportation network reflects the needs and priorities of those who live and work here.”
