McLendon-Chisholm, TX – July 24, 2025 — Huffines Enterprises broke ground this week on Horizon Lakes, its highly anticipated 900-acre master-planned community in Rockwall County, with a celebratory event hosted at the future site on Farm to Market 550. The ceremony marked the beginning of Phase 1, which will deliver approximately 590 homesites and a premier amenity center overlooking the lake.
The Horizon Lakes groundbreaking drew an impressive turnout of local leaders, community partners, and key stakeholders—underscoring the development’s anticipated role in shaping the region’s continued growth. Among the notable attendees were McLendon-Chisholm Mayor Bryan McNeal, Rockwall Commissioner Lorne Liechty, and members of both the McLendon-Chisholm and Heath City Councils. Representing Huffines Enterprises and Huffines Communities were founders Don and Phillip Huffines, along with Vice President and Project Manager Colin Huffines.
The ceremony featured remarks from Colin Huffines, who outlined the development’s vision, master plan, and delivery timeline. Don and Phillip Huffines followed, reflecting on the legacy of Huffines Enterprises and Huffines Communities and the strategic significance of Horizon Lakes. Mayor McNeal and City Manager Liechty also spoke, both highlighting the project’s importance to the future of McLendon-Chisholm, Heath, and Rockwall County. In addition to civic and development leaders, the event welcomed many of the project’s key collaborators—from land planners, engineers, and excavators to top-tier homebuilders and VIP Realtors. Horizon Lakes’ builder lineup currently includes CastleRock Communities, Pulte Homes, and Toll Brothers, with the first homes expected in 2027.
