George Leland Reick, a longtime resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away May 28, 2020, at the age of 92. He was born December 28, 1927, in Livingston, IL, to Henry Carl Reick and Agnes (Whitehurst) Reick. George met his wife, Mary Lou, when she was 15 and he was 18 at a skating rink in Kankakee, IL. He went off to serve in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. While away, he and Mary Lou wrote many letters back and forth. After Mary Lou’s graduation from Nursing School, they were married in Manteno, IL, on November 15, 1952. George was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting. As an act of service, he helped his neighbors by mowing their lawns. He loved NASCAR, John Wayne and historical movies. George liked fixing things around the house. He tinkered with carpentry and even built his first family home.
He is survived by his children: Mary Kay Aten of Rockwall, TX, Francis K. Reick and wife Dala of Leaf River, IL, Karen R. Reick of Leaf River, IL, and Theresa L. Littlejohn of Hubert, NC; grandchildren: Stephanie Aten, Elliott Reick (Laura), Victoria Singer (Joshua), Elizabeth Singer (Jeremy), Michael Littlejohn, Jr., Alexandrea Littlejohn, Katherine Littlejohn, and Ian Littlejohn; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Lou Reick; 6 sisters; 1 half-sister; 3 brothers; grandson: Jason Aten; great grandson: Matthew Singer; great granddaughter: Lillyan Singer; and his parents.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
