Mary Ann Catheryn Bergin Rinkevich, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2020. She was born at home on March 23, 1934, in Detroit, MI, to her late parents Charles “Raymond” Bergin and Anna Evelyn McDemott. She met her love, Joseph William Rinkevich at a dance at Gesu Church complex (Quincy/Six) and they married on June 7, 1958.
Mary Ann loved baking for her children. She was also an avid gardener who appreciated nature and she loved watching birds especially her favorite, a cardinal. For many years, Mary Ann worked as a registered nurse in Michigan and Texas. It suited her servant heart.
Her life was a living example of this Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Mary Ann is survived by her husband: Joseph; her sister: Eleanor Beekman; her nine children: James (Sue Wilson), Daniel (Jill Perkins), Sharon, Timothy (Mary Barnwell), William, Thomas, Rory (Deborah Byrne), Rose (Charles Lankford), and Anne; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, William, and John; and one sister: Doris Tull.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
