Chelsea Loren Griffin

Chelsie Loren Griffin was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 13, 1985. She graduated from Rockwall High School. She entered God’s Kingdom on February 16, 2023, she was 37 years old.

Chelsie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every minute she shared with them. They were her world! If you were lucky enough to be present when she looked into her children’s faces, the pure joy radiating from her would blind you. Chelsie wanted nothing more for them than to have a wonderful life.

She had a larger-than-life personality and always made people smile. She made friends everywhere she went and was a great listener. She was very approachable and easy to love. She loved without reserve and without hesitation. Chelsie brought sunlight and beauty anywhere she went. She was an avid animal lover, and for some reason, strays always showed up on her doorstep and never left. She was always the first to sign up on the volunteer lists for her children’s sporting events.

Chelsie enjoyed water sports, boating, sunsets, puzzles, dancing, decorating her home and making floral arrangements.

Even though Chelsie was taken too soon, we are thankful for her life. She lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who loved her deeply and will be missed greatly. Those who knew Chelsie even just a little lost a shining light in their lives. As we lean on God’s promises, we are comforted knowing that Chelsie was a child of God and had given her heart to Christ our Lord and Savior. As God’s Light shines bright in our darkness, we are certain that Chelsie has entered eternal happiness and unspeakable joy in his presence. When you think of Chelsie, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Chelsie is survived by her Children: Corbin and Cylee Griffin; Mother: Olinda Brightwell and Stepfather: Robert Brightwell; Father: Scott James and Stepmother: Patricia James; brothers: Brian Bishop and wife Dawn, their Daughter Kylin Bishop and Corey Vasquez; Sister: Kimberly Rocha and Husband: Frank; Grandparents: Harry and Sandra Cole; and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: William and Audrey James; and uncle: David Garrison.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Lakeshore Church in Rockwall, TX. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, February, 27, 2023, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location.

Purple Ribbon’s Significance

The Purple Ribbon is used to promote awareness of domestic violence, it tells everyone that you stand against domestic violence, and you will speak out to stop violence against women and their children.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the US, more common than automobile accidents, muggings, and cancer deaths combined. In 2022 the number of female domestic violence victims totaled over 10 million. 1 in 3 women are subject to domestic violence at some point in their lives. Domestic violence is among the most underreported crimes in the nation. 20 people per minute are abused by their domestic partners nationwide. 1 in 4 women experience severe physical violence. The presence of a gun in a domestic violence situation increases the risk of Homicide by 500%. A 10-city study found 1/5 homicide victims with temporary protective orders were murdered within two days of obtaining the order, and 1/3 were murdered within the first month.

Let’s Speak Up and work together to change policy and put more laws in place to help women from becoming victims.
