Helen E. Tenbrink, age 94, of Rowlett, TX, passed away at home on January 23, 2022. She was born December 2, 1927, in Alma, KS, to August Grunewald and Pauline (Stuewe) Grunewald. Helen was able to pursue her love of flying, travel, and meeting new people when she became a flight attendant with TWA and flew with them for several years. She eventually found her calling, helping preteens as a psychiatric nurse at Topeka State Hospital in Kansas where she retired after 25 years of dedicated service. She moved to Texas after her retirement, to enjoy the bluebonnets every spring and no snow to shovel. She was an avid Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan, enjoyed reading, loved flowers, licorice and generally getting into a bunch of foolishness. Helen was blessed with a loving family that consisted of two daughters, a son-in-law that always grilled her favorite food – hamburgers and her grandson whom she absolutely adored, and his handsome mustache. She was deeply loved and her presence will be greatly missed.

Helen is survived by her daughters: Sallie Cebell and husband Brent of Rowlett, TX, and Cindy McCauley of Rowlett, TX; and grandson: Jacob Cebell. She was preceded in death by her sisters: LaVerne and Dorothy; brother: Edward; and her parents.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
