It is with great sadness that the family of Danny Hays announces his peaceful passing at the age of 88 on December 20, 2021. Danny was born on April 16, 1933, and grew up in the East Grand area of Dallas.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years: Joan Hays’ his three children: Ramona LaFavers, Tim Hays and wife Karen, and Lesa Nelson; grandchildren: Brandon Nelson and wife Leann, Nicole Harris, Jennifer Oppermann and husband Todd, Matthew Hays, and Stephen Hays and wife Brittany; and great-grandchildren: Seth Nelson and wife Kortni, Colton Harris, Alex, and Hadley and Greyson Oppermann.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bruce and Grace Hays; brothers: Curtis, Donald and Gary Hays; sisters: Virginia Aycock and Peggy Hays; and nephews: Roger and Terry Hays.

Danny’s devotion in life was to his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on his ranch. As a young man, Danny acquired a lifelong interest in studying the history of Colt and other antique firearms and was considered an expert in this field.

His long career started at Farwell Mechanical, later to Powers Regulator Co. where he worked for 17 years working his way to regional manager in Detroit. In 1979, for Continental Mechanical, as Contract Manager, he assumed the responsibilities on the Plaza of the Americas project and eventually the Galleria, Dallas. He served as Project Manager for Sam P. Wallace, and later as Vice President for Carl Wallace Co. in New Orleans.

Danny was a member of the Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, The Dallas Arms Collectors Assoc. and Plumbers & Fitters Local #100.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.

Funeral services to celebrate Danny’s life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, January 3, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location. The family will receive friends and loved ones and have viewing from 10:00 to 11:00am. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
