Venita Charlene (Nana) Sartain was born on February 13, 1936, in Clearlake, Texas, to Howard Monroe (Jack) Bentley and Ethel Thurman Bentley. She was baby sister to R.E. and Thurman Bentley. On March 30, 1953, Charlene married the love of her life, H.M. Sartain, and they were blessed with 3 sons, David Morgan, Jackie Lee and Douglas Paul. Charlene departed this life on October 10, 2021.
Charlene’s early life was in Clearlake, Texas, and later the family moved to Wylie, Texas, where her father was Chief of Police for many years. After her marriage, the family moved to Rockwall, Texas, in the late 60’s, and Rockwall County remained her home for the remainder of her life.
Charlene loved the Lord and her family. She loved her Dallas Cowboys. Purple was her color.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband and sons, David and Jackie.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Doug Sartain and Cindi; grandchildren: Christie Sartain-Doster and Bobby, Brian Sartain and Michelle, Jack Sartain and Lindsy, Jason Sartain and Brooke, Autumn Dieckmann and Gregg, Melissa Sartain and Victoria Sartain; great-grandchildren: Tyler Kapphahn, Makenzie Kapphahn, Kileigh Sartain, Bryse Sartain, Brynnlee Sartain, Ethan Doster, Erik Doster, Jayden Sartain, Hallie Sartain, Jason Sartain, Jr., Austin Sartain, Gabby Najera, Bella Najera, James Hickmon, Morgan Hickmon, Carlton Hickmon, Terra Hill, Logan Hill and Bradley Graham; and great-great grandchildren: Mackenzy and Layloni; sister-in-law: Terri Steffens; brother-in-law: David Stiles; cousin: Linda Nelson; along with a host of other nieces, nephews and loved ones who will miss Charlene dearly.
Funeral services are to be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, beginning at 10:00 AM, in Reflections Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall location, with Pastor Mark Sartain officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM preceding the service. There will be no graveside.
