Barbara Fern (Sutterfield) Mannon, age 88, passed away on October 26, 2021. She was born on March 4, 1933, to Jesse Sutterfield and Jane (Hudspeth) Sutterfield and grew up in Heber Springs, Arkansas with her two sisters, Patsy and Sarah. She married Junior (Jim) Mannon, the true love of her life in 1949, with whom she spent 70 amazing years. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After raising her children and operating her own hair salon in Irving, Texas, Barbara and Jim retired to their beloved Port St. Joe, Florida, where they made deep and lasting friends who quickly became part of her extended family. There was no such thing as a stranger to Barbara Mannon.

Barbara had a green thumb like no other, and she loved taking care of her beautiful flowers. She was President of the Florida Federation Garden Club as well as the Port St. Joe Garden Club. She could cook, pickle, or bake absolutely anything, without needing a recipe or exact measurements. She also loved sewing, and she was an accomplished painter whose favorite subjects were her flowers and the nearby rolling sand dunes, beach, and ocean. She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she not only held the highest positions of her local chapter but also served as Grand Warder for the Grand Chapter of Florida. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her children: Larry Mannon and wife, Betty, Vicki Pickens and husband, Ray, Dianna Taylor and husband, John, Loretta Wallace, and husband, Doug; as well as by her grandchildren: Melissa Brown and husband, Jason, Eric Mannon and wife, Kristi, Brian Husch and wife Deidre, Lori Husch, Johnathan Husch, Stephanie Gallagher, Amber Welock and husband, Joseph, Joshua Taylor and wife, Ashley, Jason Wallace and wife, Erica, Ryan Wallace and wife, Allyson; and finally by her 14 great-grandchildren, as well as countless people not technically related by blood who were blessed to call her Mom, Sister, Granny, and Friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and husband.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place prior to the service, beginning at 12:00pm.
