Sharon Kay McDaniel, 78, a Rockwall County resident of 54 years, passed from this life to eternal life on September 2, 2021. Kay was born November 20, 1942, in Long Beach, California, to William Thomas Cox and Lorraine D. (McCallum) Cox. She married Willard McDaniel on February 17, 1967.

Kay was independent, caring, honest and treated everyone the same, from the janitor to the president of the company. She served as Rockwall County District Clerk from 1996-2016 and served her county with honor. She was the life of the party and a shining light for Jesus. Kay had a generous heart and would help others unconditionally, and stood by her family, friends and employees. She was a loving mother and a devoted “MeeKay” to her grandson. Kay was deeply loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who met her.

Kay is survived by her daughters: Treska McDaniel Puckett and husband Randy, and Shakira Todd; grandson: Rylan Todd; sister: Delores Beth Baker and husband Geren; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will all miss her dearly. A special thank you to her beloved friend, Tommy Gentry. Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband: Willard McDaniel; parents: William and Lorraine Cox; and siblings: Gwen Robertson and Lynn Cox.

Funeral services to celebrate Kay will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 10, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall. Interment will follow in Rockwall Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones Thursday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
