Kathey J. Moreno, age 65, and a resident of Rockwall, TX, for over 20 years, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 24, 2021. She was born June 20, 1956, in Dallas, TX, to Flan Edward Monk Sr. and Norma Jean Wilson. Kathey was the most selfless, caring, and kindhearted person that you would ever meet. She greeted everyone like family and offered the greatest hugs to each and everyone who was in her presence. Kathey loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Lakepointe Church Rockwall, where she attended and volunteered over the course of 21 years. She loved to serve in all areas, including VBS, Baptisms, Library, and greeter. Kathey also spent countless years volunteering for the Relay for Life – American Cancer Society that helped raise thousands of dollars for cancer treatment and research, which was very close to her heart.

Kathey was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, beloved aunt, and her biggest blessing was being “Emol” to her six precious grandkids. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her grandkids, nieces, and nephews perform in band concerts, sporting events, and graduations. She was beyond proud of all their accomplishments and relished every moment she had with each of them. She was a fierce prayer warrior, traveler, and adventurous spirit, who found so much joy in the little things in life. She had a contagious smile that would light up any room and brighten the darkest night.

Retiring as an Administrative Assistant with the Texas Rangers Law Enforcement, Kathey made countless lifelong friends over the decade and a half that she worked with DPS. She absolutely loved being a part of the Texas Rangers family and what they represented for our state.

Kathey is survived by her loving husband of 37 years: Robert Moreno; daughter: Tamara Shroyer and husband David; grandchildren: Kristen Smith and husband Anson, Evan Shroyer, Mckenna Shroyer, Rylie Shroyer, Kayden Shroyer, and Elijah Shroyer; mom: Jean Haught; brother: Flan Monk Jr.; sister: Kimberly Perez and husband Rod; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Sawyer, Corliss Monk, Becky Pratt and spouse, Andy Jones, and Sylvia Fairris; brother-in-law: Chris Moreno and wife Stephanie; mother-in-law: Carolina Moreno; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father: Flan Monk Sr.; daddy: Bill Cade; brothers: Danny Sawyer and Glenn Monk; and father-in-law: Luis Roberto Moreno Sr.

Kathey was an angel on earth, who is now an angel in Heaven. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Forever in our hearts!

A celebration of Kathey’s life will be held 1:00pm Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location, with Deacon Perez Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00pm.
