William Leeper “W.L.” Welborn

William Leeper Welborn, called “W.L.” or “Dub,” passed away August 21, 2020.

He was preceded by his wife Grace Lue Ruth Welborn, his mother Mary Agnes, and his father Clarence Comalice Welborn (called “Bus”).

Also, he was preceded by his brother J.C. Welborn, his brother Charles Melton, and his brother Clarence Franlin. His sister, Linda Bell Goodman (called “Sister”) survives him.

W.L. and Lue Ruth Welborn were married on April 5, 1953. Their children survive them. William Steven Welborn, John Randell Welborn, and Mary Ann Boyd.

There are many grandchildren, Steve’s children (wife Judy): Jame, Shawn, Shane. Summer, Kyle, Coby, and Taylor. Randy’s children (wife Megan): Taff, Crue, and Mattie. Mary Ann’s children (husband Mike); Donald, and Anna Marie.

W.L. and Lue Ruth’s surviving great-grandchildren are Christina, Bryce, Carter, Addison, Ryan, Cooper, Dakota, Mason, Max, Katie, Anna, Jackson, Ella, Olly, Kate, and Sam.

Grandson Tyler preceded. There were many nieces and nephews like Roger and Elaine.

W.L. and Lue Ruth operated “Welborn’s Daycare & Learning Center” for over 30 years in Dallas, Texas at two locations. Thousands of children were cared for and loved over the years. It was not unusual for several generations of children to attend in the same family. W.L. enjoyed working outside at his farm in Kemp, Texas raising cows and other animals with Lue Ruth. Handling the hay for his animals and operating his tractors were some of his favorite things.

Graveside services will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, August 30, 2020, in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Rockwall, TX.
