Thomas was born on August 5, 1960, to James Edward Cosby and Jean Burns Cosby. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, Thomas worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX for the next 35 years. Upon retirement from Texas Instruments, he started a new career at Teledyne E2V in the fall of 2017.

Thomas met his wife, Karen, in a church singles class and they were married on September 9, 1989. They were blessed with two sons, Michael and Nathan. As the boys grew, the family became involved in scouting. This was an important activity for him as he is an Eagle Scout. He held various leadership positions through the years culminating as Scoutmaster of Troop 83 in Rockwall, TX. He and the boys had many adventures through the years and with their father by their side, both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as well. After Scouting, Thomas became a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Heath Police Department for several years. He also joined the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief program. He deployed to South Texas as chaplain serving victims of fires. At First Baptist Church Rockwall, he drove the shuttle bus on Sunday mornings and helped in cooking the monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He and Karen also served as greeters on Sunday mornings.

Thomas was a dedicated Christian man with a servant’s heart devoted to God and his family. He is survived by his wife Karen and sons Michael of McKinney, TX, and Nathan of Dallas, TX. Also, his mother, Jean Burns Cosby, sister, Mary Jean Nave and her husband Rex, and brother, Alan and his wife, Kim, also several nieces and nephews, all of Tennessee.

He was a true blessing to all who were privileged to know him.
