Richard Gordon “Dick” Yeager, age 95 and a Rockwall, TX, resident for 15 years, passed away August 21, 2020. He was born April 23, 1925, in Sioux City, IA, to John George Yeager and Olga Elizabeth (Nordstrom) Yeager. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, where he was mostly stationed in the North Atlantic. Dick was proud to participate in 2011 in Honor Flight 6 to Washington, DC, to see the WWII memorial. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Rockwall. Dick enjoyed his career in sales traveling through several states and finally ending up in Houston, Texas with Montgomery Ward department store until his retirement in 1988. Dick had a fun, friendly personality and loved playing bridge and dominos as well as spending time with family and friends.

Dick was a dedicated supporter of his son, Jerry, who had special needs, and spent much of his free time volunteering for Special Olympics. He also established parent organizations as well as local workshops for the handicapped. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was very involved in the activities of his family members. His sweet, loving spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Dick is survived by his son: Rick Yeager and wife Brenda; grandchildren: Ben Yeager and wife Leah, Matt Yeager and wife Andrea, David Yeager and wife Kirsten, Jon Yeager and wife Brittany, and Tim Yeager and wife Sydney; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Ava, Liv, Gunnar, Ellie, Charlotte, Skylar, Jonah, Ava M., and Gina M.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years: Iris Yeager; son: Jerry Yeager; his parents; two brothers and one sister.

Private graveside services will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
