Patrick Lee Hodges was born on October 24, 1952, in Dallas, Texas to Robert Eugene Hodges, Sr. and Katherine Beeson Hodges. Pat, also lovingly known as “Pappy”, passed away on August 22, 2020, at the age of 67.

Pat grew up in Pleasant Grove with his older brother Butch where they roamed the streets of Urbandale, crawfishing and riding Pat’s horse, Saddler, up and down Military Parkway. It was not uncommon for them to race home to pester their little sister Suzie, pulling her hair and hiding her dolls.

Pat met the love of his life, Teresa Ann Jenkins at WW Samuell High School and they were married in 1974. Pat and Teresa created a beautiful life together and were blessed with three children: Leeann, Greg and Katie. Pat was an avid sports fan and unarguably the best athlete around. He loved nothing more than teaching his kids everything he knew about every game and sport. He never missed a swim meet, football or soccer game and he was the first person his kids looked for in the stands. Pat led his family well. His love for Teresa never wavered, she was his “Queen” and their marriage of 46 years is a testament of faithfulness, hard work and God’s love. Pat had a true servant’s heart and showed his family the Spirit of Christ, teaching them to love unconditionally.

Pat worked at Squibb-Taylor, Inc. for 47 years and was considered one of the industry’s experts in the United States and Canada when it comes to anhydrous ammonia equipment and safety. His friends at Squibb-Taylor were his second family and he was honored to have worked with three generations of ownership.

Pat is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Hodges and his children, Leeann Wells and husband Westley, Greg Hodges and wife Kellianne, Katie Larey and husband Bryan; and his 5 grandchildren, Kolton, Addison Hadley, Taylor and Henry. As much as Pat loved his wife and children, the kids who called him “Pappy”, were his true pride and joy. They were blessed to spend countless hours at Grammie and Pappy’s hanging out on the back porch, playing with the water hose, and of course, having ice cream whenever they wanted it. Pat is also survived by his brother, Robert Hodges Jr.; his sister, Suzzanne Garrett and husband Doug; his sister in law Deborah Cope and father in law Lee Roy Jenkins and his nieces and nephews Jeff and Corey, Marianne and Aaron, and Jayce and Avery.

We hate that he is gone, but we are so lucky he was here and even luckier he was ours.

A visitation will be held at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall on Thursday from 5pm-7pm. All guests attending the visitation at Rest Haven will be required to wear masks. A celebration to honor Pat will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. on the Lake Pointe Campus, in The Bridge, located at 701 E. I-30, Rockwall, TX, 75087.

As an alternative to flowers, our generous Pappy had started college funds for his grandkids. If you would like to contribute in that way, please reach out to Greg Hodges at 214-536-6812 or email [email protected].
