Kathleen Alice (Armstrong) Morken, of Rockwall, TX, passed into Glory on August 27, 2020, from a rare and very aggressive form of cancer. Kathy will be buried in Kansas City after a memorial service at Mt. Moriah cemetery on September 5 with Pastor Shay Fields officiating. A second memorial service will be held at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, TX at a date to be determined.

Kathleen was born March 1, 1952, in Kansas City, MO. Growing up she moved to several cities in the US where her father, Bill Armstrong (with mother Juanita), was stationed as a naval officer. Among the places she lived as a child were Kansas City, MO; Jacksonville, FL; New Orleans, LA; and Detroit, MI where she graduated from Carlson High School.

Her family eventually moved to the bay area in California where she met and married Bruce Cervone. They were blessed with three children Dawn, Danny, and Andrea. In California she became a citizen of Heaven, being saved by Jesus Christ at Manor Baptist Church, where she eventually served in the preschool ministry.

After a divorce and moving back to Kansas City with her children to be near her parents, she secured a job as the Educational Director of a well-known childcare facility and began to restart her life. She later met Peter Lake Morken. They were married on August 15, 1987 and were blessed with two more children, Sarah and Christopher.

Kathy was a talented seamstress. She also was an artist who created beautifully painted dolls and decorative wreaths. She had an extreme passion for all animals, but especially dogs. She had a particular love for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels but she rescued many neglected and displaced dogs through Dallas DogRRR where Sarah works as a passionate volunteer.

Kathy and Pete loved attending and being active at Lake Pointe Church and their life groups in Rockwall. Kathy suffered many health problems including Multiple Sclerosis, three bouts of cancer, pulmonary emboli, and others for more than 30 years but maintained her faith throughout. She ambitiously served her family despite her illnesses by hosting most holiday meals, keeping house, loving her family, pets, and friends beyond what her strength allowed.

Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Danny; parents, Bill and Juanita Armstrong; her brother Daniel Armstrong; and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband Peter; her son Christopher and his son Luke; her daughter Dawn; her daughter Andrea and her husband Ryan Smidt and their children, Cole and Ava; her daughter Sarah and her husband Scott Reese and their children, Jaxon and Abel; her brother Craig Armstrong and his wife Donna; and her sister Anita and her husband Larry Miller.
