Ruth Townsend of Mesquite, TX, went to be with her Lord on August 17, 2020, at the age of 96. She was born July 3, 1924, in Cincinnati, OH. Ruth was previously of Detroit, MI, where she worked alongside her husband, Dr. James Walton Townsend, as a nurses aide for many years. Since moving to this area, she has been a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by her son, Gene Townsend and wife Mable, and four grandchildren: Corinthia, Joshua, Anna and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 21, 2020, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rowlett Location with Dr. Russell Rogers of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Social distancing will be practiced and face masks required.
