Thomas Bruce McKee, III, age 70, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2020. He was born on October 7, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Thomas Bruce McKee, Jr. and Wilma (Schulz) McKee. Thomas was a dedicated police officer for 34 years. He worked for the Dallas Police Department as a robbery detective, and towards the end of his career, he worked with ATF and the FBI. After his retirement in 2006, Thomas became the co-owner of a family-owned storage business. On December 30, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Terrie, and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage together before her passing. A devoted grandfather, Thomas loved nothing more than spoiling his grandsons, eating BBQ and Blue Bell Ice Cream, and attending classic car shows with friends. He loved watching horse races, obsessing over his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, and serving others at his church, Holy Trinity by the Lake in Heath. His presence will be deeply missed by the community and those who love him.

Thomas is survived by his son: Bryan McKee of Rockwall, Texas; daughter: Allison Smith and husband Daniel of Rockwall, Texas; grandsons: Austin and Ben Smith; and sisters: Wilma Jean Hester, and Nancy McKee Moore. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Teresa (Reynolds) McKee; as well as his parents and older brother, Roy Lee Tompkins.

A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held at a later date.
