Collin County law enforcement not stopping motorists, despite rumors

In a Facebook post this afternoon, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office notified citizens that law enforcement is NOT stopping motorists to determine if they have a legitimate reason to be out, despite rumors suggesting so.

“No Collin County deputies are stopping motorists for this reason. Consistent with Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner’s preference that our deputies educate the public about Collin County Judge Chris Hill’s March 16 declaration of a state of disaster and public-health emergency for Collin County and his March 24 order,” the post said. “Our deputies are merely responding to questions from citizens and encouraging individuals to maintain social distancing and avoid groups of 10 or more people in the unincorporated areas of Collin County and in our patrol districts. #RumorControl#CCSO#SheriffsOffice
