Mary Alice Norris, age 80, of Garland, TX, passed away on January 7, 2020. She was born December 18, 1939, in Tyler, TX, to Robert McIntosh and Lucille (Taylor) McIntosh. Mary Alice married the love of her life, Wilbert Norris, on October 5, 1956. Wilbert and Mary Alice were high school sweethearts. They met in 1954 at Oak Hill Baptist Church. She caught Wilbert’s eye and they enjoyed being in each other’s company. The couple attended church and school together. As they went through high school, Wilbert knew she was the girl he wanted to marry. He loved being with her. She could almost beat him at bowling and they loved going skating. They also went on youth group trips together where they knew that they were meant for each other! Sixty-three and ½ years later, to say they made it is an understatement. Wilbert and Mary Alice are a true testament to what God created marriage to be. In 1976, they moved to Garland where Mary Alice was involved in the children’s ministry at Living Hope Baptist Church. She loved her children and grandchildren passionately. Mary Alice will be missed deeply by everyone who loved her.

Mary Alice is survived by her loving husband: Wilbert L. Norris; daughter: Sandra Smallwood and husband Ray of Kileen, TX; Tamra Staten and husband Jason of Royse City, TX; sons: Gary Norris, and Steve Norris of Garland, TX; grandson: Sonny Carter of McKinney, TX; great-granddaughter: Kyndle Carter; great-grandsons: Taylor Hicks, Trent Staten, and Toby Staten; sister: Linda Green of Arlington, TX; and brother: Lyle McIntosh of Sulphur Springs, TX.
