Multiple students killed in crash on State Highway 78 in Lavon

The Collin County Sheriff’s Department said multiple people were killed in a crash involving two vehicles in Lavon Tuesday evening.

The fatalities include Andrew Miller and Jordan Kidd, both 17 years old, and Marilyn Dominguez and Secily Lackey, both 16 years old.

The crash happened around 5:45pm on State Highway 78 in front of the Bently Farms subdivision near the intersection at Lake Road.

Community ISD released a statement on the deadly crash as victims attended school there.

“Tonight we were devastated to learn of a tragic car accident involving multiple students from Community ISD. We are grateful to the first responders on the scene. As they continue to investigate CISD will refrain from making any additional comment out of respect for the families. Our thoughts and prayers are with these families and with the entire Brave Nation as we grieve together. Counselors will be available to help support students and staff first thing in the morning.”

Lavon Police Department has confirmed that four Community High School students have died and three are being treated for injuries that are not life threatening. Names and ages of the students involved have not been released.

The truck all the students were riding in swerved across the center lane sideways. The reason is unknown at this time. It collided with an oncoming van.

Lavon Police and Fire Departments, DPS, Wylie Police, Wylie Fire Department, Nevada Fire Department and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office are also assisting. Clergy from First Assembly Lavon, First Baptist Lavon and First Baptist Wylie were also on the scene.
