Rockwall, Texas – Sideways BBQ proudly announced that it is partnering with the Rockwall Terry Fisher American Legion Post to bring to Rockwall a first-ever, free benefit concert to celebrate veterans and their service on Saturday, November 9th, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Rockwall Harbor.

“Since serving in the Marine Corps, it has been my dream to hold a benefit to honor the men and women who have bravely served our nation and raise needed funds for Veteran Service Organizations,” said Josh Deaton, owner of Sideways, a dynamic local Rockwall BBQ favorite.

LT Mike Thornton, USN (ret) Medal of Honor Recipient, will be the honored guest as the Rockwall community gathers together to salute veterans and their families with live Texas country music provided by the Zack Romo Band and Brandon Bamburg. Several Veteran Service Organizations have been invited to attend and Sideways will be offering its signature BBQ sandwiches and another Rockwall favorite, Woodcreek Brewery, will offer its signature Veterans Red Lager.

By bringing the community together, Josh Deaton and Sideways hope to show their appreciation to the Rockwall Community while helping veterans and their families. Besides great music, food and refreshments, a number of unique items will be raffled, including a custom made smoker. Proceeds from the concert will benefit local veterans service organizations.

Mark Kipphut, Post Commander, is very pleased and proud for our Rockwall American Legion Post #117 to team with Sideways to hold this event and honor all veterans in our local area. “Rockwall County is an outstanding place to live and raise a family; it is a very patriotic community where some 8,000 vets and their families call, home.” In coming together with Sideways, the Terry Fisher Post and several other Veteran Support Organizations will show how they work hard every day in new and imaginative ways to help veterans deal with service related trauma and successfully reintegrate into civilian life. Several sponsors have already stepped forward and we invite any individual of business in the region that would like to support this event to contact the Terry Fisher American Legion Post at [email protected] or Sideways at [email protected]
