Michael Singh, 73, a resident of Royse City, Texas, passed away August 18, 2020. Michael was born October 9, 1946, to Finley Murvynne Singh and Velma Shiela (Joseph) Singh, in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Michael is survived by his loving wife: Becky (Barnes) Singh; his children: Johnny Wilson and wife Donna, Ingrid Latham and husband Curtis, Donna Lisk and husband Donald, Richard Singh, Anthony (Tony) Singh, and David Singh; grandchildren: Krystal (Lisk) Potts and 12 others; 9 great-grandchildren; his mother: Velma; his sisters: Ingrid and husband Noel Elias, Vanessa Ferreira, Franka Subero, and Debra Singh; along with a host of other family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father: Finley; his brother: Dennis (Butch) Singh; his auntie: Virginia Balkaransingh; and his grandson: Kyle Lisk.
Michael and Becky were happily married for 41 years. They married in October of 1979. Michael came to the United States on November 1, 1970, at which time he enlisted in the US Army – Special Ops unit where he served 4 years. After the Army, Michael worked for the US Postal Inspection Service for 20+ years before moving on to Collin County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired. Michael loved his family foremost and would gather them together often by cooking them Curry and Roti, Stew Beef or what he called his famous ‘Cookup’. When Michael was not cooking, some of his favorite past times were Disco Dancing and Horse Racing. Michael was a man of faith, he held it close to him throughout his life and never missed a Sunday service at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, TX, until he became too ill to attend.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 10:00am, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Royse City Location. Interment will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will take place prior to the service, beginning at 9:00am. In compliance with County regulations, social distancing will be in place, with up to 25 guests at a time, and face masks are required.
