Atta Mae (Fanning) Thomas, age 57, of Forney, TX, passed away on July 26, 2020. She was born January 9, 1963, in Richmond, IN, to mother Saundra LaKay (Streaty) LeFlore and father Clarence R. Fanning, Sr. Atta, a loving mother, grandmother and daughter, was the perfect personification of strength, humbleness, and care. Her inner strength and sincere care for others led Atta to become a dedicated registered nurse. Despite juggling multiple roles as a mother, grandmother, and nurse, she continued pursuing her higher education, and successfully earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing, May of 2019. A member of the Rockwall Friendship Church, her love of music was shared as a member of the choir. She loved to travel, spend time at the beach and food of all sorts. She especially loved going to lunch with friends. Atta loved her family and friends dearly and she will be missed beyond measure.
Atta is survived by her Parents: Saundra LaKay LeFlore of Oklahoma City, OK, and Clarence R. and Sandra Fanning of Anderson, IN; sons: Kyle Thomas and wife Makeda of Mesquite, TX, Richard Thomas III of Oklahoma City, OK; Daughter: Brittany Thomas of Plano, TX; Grandchildren: Kalani Thomas, Kyle Thomas, and Jaziah Thomas; Sisters: Sherry D. Davis and husband Gregory of Edmond, OK, Stephanie R. Pulliam and husband Marcus of Edmond, OK, and Chelsea Fanning of Anderson, IN; Brothers: Clarence R. Fanning, Jr. and wife Sunny of Fort Worth, TX, James H. LeFlore of McAlester, OK, and Clarence R. Fanning, II of Anderson, IN; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Atta is preceded by sister: Dawn M. Roberts; and grandparents: James Kenneth and Atta Mae Streaty, and Clarence Raymond and Anna Mae Fanning.
Private funeral services will be held at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
