Dr. Harry Carl Kizer, age 89, of Rockwall, TX, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was born September 27, 1930, in Hugo, OK, to Harry Cern and Thelma May (Walker) Kizer. Harry was the second youngest of eight children and graduated from Hugo High School before serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a top turret gunner in a B-29 Superfortress. While serving in the military, Harry married Dorothy Elizabeth Murphy of Hulen, OK on December 2, 1952. After the military, Harry attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, OK before moving to Dallas to attend the Baylor College of Dentistry. Harry practiced orthodontics for 61 years and truly loved his patients, especially children. He was very active in the Texas Dental Association, the Dallas County Dental Society, and the Angle Society of Orthodontics, serving as president of the latter from 1975 to 1977.
In 1970, the Kizers moved to Heath, and Harry served on the Board of Trustees of the Rockwall Independent School District, including a period as president, and as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Heath.
Dr. Kizer was preceded in death by his parents, five of seven siblings and his son: Karl Kizer. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 67 years: Dorothy Kizer; children: Gregory Kizer and Brant Kizer; grandchildren: Shelby Bragg, Lawson Kizer and Travis Kizer; and great grandsons: Mason Bragg and Madden Bragg.
Private family services will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
