Ben Gordon Martin, Jr., a resident of Fate, TX, passed away July 17, 2020, at the age of 78. He was born July 5, 1942, in Dallas, TX, to Ben Gordon Martin, Sr. and Emma Lee (Hargrove) Martin. Ben grew up in Dallas and later moved to Mesquite to raise his family. He met his wife, Mary, while at a Dairy Queen with church friends in Oak Cliff, TX. The two married on September 22, 1962, in Dallas while he was still in the Navy. At the age of 16, he began working at Sears and remained there until his retirement in 1989. Ben enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Mary Martin of Fate, TX; daughters: Lynette Zorn of Fate, TX, and Jennifer Lucas and husband Chris of McLendon-Chisholm, TX; grandchildren: Caleb Zorn, Megan Lucas, and Brayden Lucas; sister: Sue Welborn and husband George of OK; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
