Ruth Marie Brooks, age 86, and long-time resident of Garland, TX, passed away on July 7, 2020. She was born on August 15, 1933, in Rockwall, TX, to Elmer Perry Shewmake and Phalba (Jordan) Shewmake. Ruth met her husband, Howard, at Rockwall High School and they were married in 1952, in Ranger, TX. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family. Family was very important to her. Ruth was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Garland. Her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.
Ruth is survived by her son: Jim Brooks of Garland, TX; daughters: Pam Rowley of Cedar Creek, TX, and Liz Swan and husband Terry of Garland, TX; grandchildren: Leo Rowley, Chris Rowley and wife Julie, Brooke Rowley, Nolan Rowley, Jeff Rowley, Tia Sanford, Corey Shaw, and Jordan Swan and wife Sophie; great-grandchildren: Colton, Dakota, Kayelynn, Jameson, Hattie, and Wyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Howard Brooks; and eight brothers and sisters.
Private family services will be held at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
