Charmaine Antoinette Sarpong Obituary

Charmaine Antoinette Sarpong, age 57, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on March 14, 2020. She was born October 18, 1962, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Ivan Sherwood and Joyce Gray. Charmaine was a member of Lake Shore Church in Rockwall for 5 years. At age 11, she moved from Kingston, Jamaica to New York with her family. Then relocated to California for 18 years. Charmaine married her husband Joseph in 1996 and moved to Texas. She graduated from Luther Burbank High School (1980) in Sacramento, Ca. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999, and then her MBA from Amberton University in 2005. Charmaine started her career at Franchise Tax Board in Sacramento, CA, prior to moving to Texas. Charmaine worked for Texas Instruments, Texas Workforce Commission, and the University of Texas Dallas. When she moved to Rockwall, she started her own non-profit business The Rose of Sharing International Ministry to help families in need. She was a person of faith. Charmaine loved to travel and she enjoyed life. Family was very important to her. Charmaine’s presence will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Charmaine is survived by her loving husband: Joseph Sarpong of Rockwall, TX; mother: Joyce (Gray) McGhie of Elk Grove, CA; dad: Calvin McGhie; biological father: Ivan Sherwood; sisters: Erica Hall-Maxwell and husband Donald, Michelle Bryan, Selene Sherwood, and Lavern Sherwood, Deanne McGhie, Michelle Millard, and Theon McGhie; brothers: Cory McGhie, Ivan Sherwood, Jr., Desmond Sherwood, Stephen Sherwood, Clinton McGhie, and Wayne McGhie; god-children: Richard Baffoe, Patrick Ofosuhene, Bassey Thompson and family, Apollos Aleba and family, Mercy Christian and family; a host of other god-children; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her sister: Donna Sherwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Lakeshore Church, 5575 Hwy 205 South, Rockwall, TX 75032. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
