Christopher Allen Smith, age 59 of Rowlett, TX, passed away September 20, 2022. He was born January 8, 1963, in Urbana, OH, to Howard and Arlene (Sumpter) Smith. Chris was a loving husband, father and son; and he was a phenomenal friend. He enjoyed vacationing with friends and family, pursuing his woodworking hobby, watching sports and going to the movies. Chris was a fantastic cook and may have missed his calling as a chef. He was a gatherer of people, nearly every year included a golf trip and a legendary Christmas party, each with guest lists that were impossibly long. He was a source of joy to his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 35 years: Vonda Smith; daughter: Nichole Smith and spouse Justin Senato; son: Chris Smith Jr. and spouse Kourtney Wehmeyer; parents: Howard and Arlene Smith; grandchild: Aubrey Jo Senato; sister: April Sweeney and spouse Mark; brother: Terry Smith; niece: Amanda Frick and spouse Kevin; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tommy McBurnett, Vaughn Chavoya, Dave Ewing, Greg Hixson, Jay Mayhall, Mike Blohm, Nick Granger, and Scott Brandt. The family will gather with friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
