Johnnie Carlton Sampson, age 89 of Miller Grove, TX, passed away June 16, 2022. He was born April 4, 1933, in Abilene, TX, to Willard and Bertha (Comte) Sampson. Johnnie proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. Married for 66 years, he loved his wife and family very much. Johnnie was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church in Point, TX, and was very involved with helping others through the church. At Christmas time he enjoyed filling shoe boxes to send to Mexico through the church. Johnnie was a plumber by trade and had retired to the country, where he enjoyed taking care of his animals and those that weren’t his, even the deer. He enjoyed making enchiladas and traveling. He lived a full life, loved many and was loved by many.
Johnnie is survived by his beloved wife: Cecilia Sampson; children: John C. “Buddy” Sampson Jr., Jeffrey W. Sampson, Lori S. Belitere and husband John, Kristi Gibbs; grandchildren: Jessica Lansford, Amanda Tomko and husband John, Cosette Chavez, Christopher Lansford, Anthony Sampson, Damien Sampson, Arianna Gibbs, and Theodore Kuntz; great-granddaughter: Makena Rose Tomko; sister: Jerilyn Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Katherine Sampson, brother Tommy Sampson, and sister Jean Fink.
A graveside service will be held 10:15 am Monday July 11, 2022, at DFW National Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett on Sunday the 10th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
