Denna Ruth Sikes, age 74, of McKinney, TX, gained her angel wings and joined her late husband, Ronald A. Sikes, Sr., on August 30, 2021. She was born October 17, 1946, in Dallas, TX, to the late Clayton and Ouida Mae (Gilmore) Cummins.
Denna is survived by her sons: Clay Patterson of Richardson, TX, Chad Patterson and wife Kathy of Rockwall, TX, and Ronnie Sikes and wife Christy of McKinney, TX; grandchildren: Shea Patterson, Justin Patterson, Taryn Patterson, Steven Sikes, Jackson Patterson and Karlyn Patterson; and great-grandchildren: Zayne, Adleigh, Tinsleigh and Blayne. She is also survived by her 4-legged (son) Sandy, who misses her dearly.
Denna graduated from South Oak Cliff High School, Class of 1964. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Texas State University in 1968. She was a loving Mother, Granna, Great Granna and a friend to many. Denna was a very independent and a hard worker. She loved and enjoyed time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, eating out, going on long drives, Casino trips, concerts, musicals, State Fair of Texas, Dallas Arboretum and meet-ups with her friends in the Single Mingles group. She was always up for an adventure.
Her beautiful smile would light up the room and she was the life of the party. She was always willing to help those in need. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 96, and she volunteered many hours delivering meals and care packages to the Veterans.
Denna was a supporter of Animal adoptions, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and American Legion Post 96. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the following:
