Donald Frederick Schmidt Sr., age 95 of Rowlett, TX, passed away August 13, 2021. He was born February 8, 1926, in Dallas to Carl Frederick and Carrie Lee (Bray) Schmidt. Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After he completed his military service, he made his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Donald was an active and faithful member of Parkside Baptist Church where he was an Elder and served in hospital visitation among other ministries. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, boating and football, but above all spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 77 years: Martha Jo Schmidt; son: Donald Schmidt Jr. and wife Virginia; grandchildren: Troy Schmidt and wife Canée, Cynthia Carr and husband Christian; great grandchildren: Nicholas and Matteus Schmidt, Peyton, Morgan and Adrienne Carr; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: William Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt, and Marlene Goldstein.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett with Pastor Jerry Coffman officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
