Five Star Storage opens its doors to the Rockwall community focusing on building strong connections with local neighbors and business owners. The building is located on Industrial Drive and is operated by Storage Asset Management, or SAM, a third-party self-storage management company.
The three-story facility has 911 state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor units. Uniquely, units are accessed and unlocked by your smartphone, rather than a physical key.
Five Star held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, coordinated in partnership with the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce. The event brought together local residents and business owners to celebrate its grand opening. As active members of the Chamber, Five Star emphasizes these networking opportunities as a major part of its business strategy.
“We support the chamber because it helps us drive business, but it also helps us get the word out that we’re willing to help other businesses as well,” said Aaron Knight, SAM’s district manager.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to supply their business cards for the Neighborhood Friends board located in the Five Star’s lobby.
“Our customers contact us all the time and be like, ‘Hey, do you know a moving company? Do you know a property manager?'” Knight said.
For the grand opening, the facility also partnered with Patriot PAWS Service Dogs, a Rockwall-based nonprofit, to serve as its charitable beneficiary. Patriot PAWS, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, provides service dogs to veterans and first responders at no cost. According to Lauren Vaughn, the organization’s director of development, the mission is focused on ensuring these companions are provided free of charge to retired veterans. Attendees were invited to inquire about the nonprofit and provide donations to help further their mission.
“It took two passions of ours, looking after the military and first responders, as well as looking after pets,” Knight said. “We all thought it was a great fit.”
Five Star is now open to the public, providing tours and leasing options are available to those interested in securing a unit.
As they begin operations, Knight and everyone at Five Star look forward to growing alongside local businesses and establishing themselves as a pillar in the Rockwall community.
