Rockwall, TX – April 14, 2026 – Rockwall-based author and business leader David Vega will release his second book, Fool for Sentiment: Reflections on Empathy, Conscience, and a Moral Life, on May 1, continuing his exploration of how people think, feel, and make decisions in an increasingly complex world.

The book is the second installment in Vega’s Fool Series, following Fool for Thought. While the first focused on the discipline of thinking, Fool for Sentiment shifts toward the role of empathy, conscience, and self-awareness in shaping personal character, leadership, and society.

Drawing on the moral philosophy of Adam Smith’s The Theory of Moral Sentiments, Vega revisits a foundational idea: a healthy society depends not only on systems and incentives, but on the human capacity to understand and care for others. At a time when public discourse often favors reaction over reflection, the book encourages readers to take a more thoughtful and grounded approach to judgment and decision-making.

“I didn’t come to Adam Smith through philosophy—I came through economics,” Vega said. “What I found in The Theory of Moral Sentiments really resonated with me. It placed empathy at the center of human behavior and moral judgment, and that idea feels urgently relevant today.”

Organized into five interconnected sections—The Art of Feeling With, The Spectator Within, The Mirage of Utility, Sentiment and Society, and The Virtue of Self-Command—the book blends personal essays with imagined dialogue, offering both an accessible introduction to moral philosophy and practical reflections on leadership, relationships, and integrity.

Vega, founder and CEO of Rockwall Capital Group and publisher of The Rockwall Times, has shared themes from his work with local business and civic audiences, as well as national leadership groups. His approach connects philosophy with everyday experience, drawing on both professional insight and personal reflection.

The book also features a foreword by leadership speaker and author Farshad Asl, who writes that Vega’s work “recalibrates the inner compass” and strengthens both judgment and humanity.

Fool for Sentiment will be available May 1 in print and digital formats. Readers can learn more or pre-order at: www.foolforthought.life
