Rockwall, TX – February 19, 2026 – Darrell Day, Republican candidate for Texas Congressional District 32, reiterated his support for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, legislation providing that only American citizens can vote in federal elections. Day’s efforts on the Dallas County Republican Party (DCRP) Hand Count Committee make him uniquely suited to fight for election integrity.
“All Americans show photo ID to board and airplane, buy alcohol or open a bank account,” Day said. “So, it’s just common sense that we should show photo ID to vote. Free and fair elections are the foundation of our constitutional republic. The SAVE Act ensures that only real voters decide our elections, not illegal immigrants. We should not dilute real votes by including illegal votes in our final tallies. This is not a partisan issue – it is about protecting the integrity of the ballot box.”
The U.S. House passed the SAVE Act on February 11, 2026, and now awaits floor action in the U.S. Senate. Day urged Senate Republicans to bring the bill to the floor for a debate and vote without delay.
“At a time when trust in our elections has been shaken, we must take proactive steps to restore voter confidence in our election results” Day continued. “The Senate should take all necessary measures to pass this critical bill and send it to President Trump’s desk.”
Day previously served on the DCRP Hand Count Committee, which fought for Dallas County primary elections held with hand counted, paper ballots, along with precinct-based voting.
“Serving on the Hand Count Committee showed me just how vulnerable our election systems can be,” Day concluded. “As your next Congressman for TX-32, I will take that fight to Washington and work to strengthen election law nationwide.”
