Supreme Court Clears The Way for Day

Rockwall, TX – December 5, 2025 – Rockwall County is officially in the TX-32, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Texas can use a congressional map drawn to help the GOP keep control of the U.S. House.   TX-32 Republican Candidate Darrell Day said the ruled helps his campaign to retake the seat from a radical Democrat.

Day said that the new map including Rockwall County “has created a MAGA district that fits a MAGA candidate like me.”

The Supreme Court ruling replaces a temporary freeze issued on Nov. 21, and keeps the map drawn by the Texas legislature in place for the midterm elections.   Day said, “This was the opinion that we predicted, because the Court in 2019 ruled that redistricting is a political issue, and not a legal question.”  Day, a former City Councilman and GOP Precinct Chair, was the GOP Nominee in TX-32 last year after winning the Primary Runoff by 30 points, and now is again running to unseat TX-32 Democrat Julie Johnson.

The justices acted on an emergency request from Texas for quick action because the filing deadline is Dec. 8 and primary elections will be held March 3.

The old TX-32 map was a heavily Democrat district that included south Dallas and was unwinnable for Republicans.  But the new redistricting plan supported by President Trump and approved overwhelmingly by the Texas Legislature redraws TX-32 to include Republican areas of Rockwall, Wood, Upshur, Hunt, Camp and Rains counties, along with Dallas and Collin counties that were in the old CD32 map.

Day pointed out the new map creates a new Hispanic-majority district in Texas, plus two new Black-majority districts.  Day had predicted two weeks ago that an interim ruling from an appeals court was a “speed bump” that would be quickly overturned.
