ROWLETT, Texas — After a year-long closure for significant upgrades and repairs, Rowlett’s Wet Zone Waterpark officially reopens Saturday, June 14, welcoming families back with major improvements to enhance guest safety, accessibility and enjoyment.
The ribbon-cutting celebration will take place at noon on Saturday and include city council members, city staff and of course, Haley the Hippo!
“Wet Zone is more than just a waterpark, it’s where memories are made and where our community comes together every summer,” says Mayor Jeff Winget. “This investment reflects our commitment to quality-of-life improvements for Rowlett families. I’m proud of our staff and crews who worked tirelessly to bring this project to life.”
The upgrades include:
- New pool plaster, waterline tile and depth markers
- Upgraded mechanical pumps and enhanced chemical controls
- An ADA-compliant pool chair lift for improved accessibility
- Two newly refurbished play structures featuring the Orb water wheel, slides and spray features
- A 3,900-square-foot splash pad with interactive, inclusive elements and a dedicated filtration system
- Refreshed shaded seating, new picnic tables and upgraded cabanas
Adjacent to Wet Zone, Kids Kingdom is also receiving attention this week with the replacement of worn and damaged play components. More extensive repairs are scheduled for August, including resurfacing the entire playground, replacing broken fixtures and installing new play features.
With season passes available, swim lessons open for registration and the return of fan-favorite events like Flick & Float movie nights, the 2025 summer season promises something for everyone.
