Poetry Community Christian School Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Poetry, Texas – May 15, 2025 – Congratulations to the Poetry Community Christian School Valedictorian and Salutatorian for 2025. 

Sarah Foreman, PCCS Valedictorian

Sarah Foreman, PCCS Valedictorian, graduates with a GPA of 4.27. At PCCS for 12 years, she exhibited excellence academically as well as in extra-curriculars. She served as a member of Student Council and National Honor Society. Sarah enjoyed playing sports, including volleyball and basketball. Since elementary, she was active in the school’s Christian Soldiers Karate program, earning her Black Belt. She was a vocalist with the Praise Team and participated in the Theatre program. About Poetry, she says, “Throughout my years here, I have been gifted with strong friendships, caring teachers, and a loving community for learning.” She lives in Kaufman and is the sixth member of the Foreman family to graduate from PCCS. She has been accepted to the Nursing Program at Blinn College and plans to transfer to Texas A&M to finish her degree. Her favorite Bible verse: “Train the young in the way they should go; even when they are old, they will not swerve from it.”

Debra Barbour, the 2025 Salutatorian

Debra Barbour, the 2025 Salutatorian, holds a GPA of 4.20 and has attended PCCS since her freshman year when her family moved to Poetry.  She appreciates the many valuable learning experiences she has had, as well as the many relationships that she has built there. Debra has been actively involved in a wide variety of school activities. She was a member of the high school Worship Team for three years, before serving as its leader her senior year. She has also been a part of the National Honors Society, and has participated in theater, volleyball, basketball, and archery during her time at PCCS. One of her favorite pursuits was training for and earning her black belt in karate and acting as a student instructor for the karate program. She plans to pursue a career in the chiropractic field. Debra is grateful for the opportunities she has had at PCCS to learn and grow. She wishes to thank her family, friends, and PCCS staff for pouring into her and believing in her. She is excited to see what God has in store for her and her classmates in the future.

​Founded in 2002, PCCS is fully accredited by the international accrediting organization, COGNIA (parent organization to South Association for College and Schools/SACS Division) and continues to be awarded high accreditation scores. During the most recent accreditation inspection, COGNIA awarded PCCS a score of 369 (well above the average score range of all COGNIA network schools, 278.34-283.33). This high score is not unusual with PCCS scoring in the exemplary range for the last two decades. In all accreditation domains, the school strives for the accreditation standard of “continuous improvement.”
