Rockwall, TX-June 18, 2024 -The trailer stolen from Dance & Arts Connection in Royse City was recovered last night by the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office around 7:00 pm. It was found on the shoulder of Interstate 20, and all the property was still inside. The trailer was promptly returned to the owners by the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
An individual was arrested at his house in Henderson County by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for trailer theft.

On June 16, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office deputy was waiting for a wrecker on IH 30 near Shenanigans about an arrest when an unrelated vehicle pulled up behind him. The individual exited the vehicle and, after a brief interaction with the deputy, proceeded to assault the deputy. The deputy was able to call for assistance, and the individual, identified as Sam Lewis Barnhill, a 25-year-old white male, was arrested for Assault on a Peace Officer and Interference with Official Duties. While the investigation is ongoing, there does not appear to be a link at this time between the traffic stop the deputy was on and the attack from Barnhill.
