Mary Anna Acker was born July 29, 1929, in Rockwall, TX, to George Henry and Rose Kathryn Cade and passed away September 2, 2022, in Dallas, TX. She was married to Loyd Edwin Acker Jr. on January 18, 1947. They raised their children, Bill and Pat, across from Memorial Jr. High on Prescott St. in Garland, TX. They were members of First United Methodist Church in Garland, TX and later in Rowlett, TX. Mary Anna taught Sunday School and Bible lessons. She was a mother figure to any child who came into her home. She donated to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Amarillo, TX, and the Presbyterian Children’s Home. Outside of her charitable contributions, she was a very accomplished painter and gardener.

Mary Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Loyd Acker, and brothers, Nathan Lee Cade and George Norman Cade. Mary Anna is survived by her sister, Sandra Valentine Isaacs, and sons, Pat Acker and wife June, of Rockwall, TX, and Bill Acker and wife Patricia of Yap Island Micronesia; grandchildren: Sean Acker and wife Jordan, Kathryn Vaughn and husband Ben, Jessica Numie Acker and husband Francis Gilmoon, Nathan Acker and wife Lola, Valerie Acker, and Oliver Patrick Acker and wife Patie; great-grandchildren: Riley Markham, Mia Bubu Gilmoon, Jeremy Pong, Thaddeus and Moses Sullivan, and Orion Michael and Taliyah Taylor Acker.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Rockwall Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Epps officiating.
