Rex Tyrone Morrison, 61, of Royse City, Texas, passed from this life on August 13, 2022. Rex was born to Aaron Morrison, Sr., and Ruby (McQueen) Morrison, on July 7, 1961, in Tallahassee, Florida. Rex was a member at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, Texas.

Rex made many inroads through the years. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Florida State University on a band scholarship. As a gifted music lover, Rex played multiple instruments, including the tuba, piano, and other horn instruments. His band Director at FSU often shared the story of Rex acting as Director of the band while he was out of the country on one occasion. He started music at an early age, taking private piano lessons as a youth. He was a movie buff. He was very good in technology.

After becoming certified as a Commercial Truck Driver, Rex traveled the country, initially from the State of Florida and later from the Dallas area.

One of his greatest milestones was marrying Gina, his one true soulmate in life.

Very early in life, Rex gave his life to God. He ministered to family members, always encouraging and offering words of wisdom. A humble and faithful servant; a man of God with Christ-like qualities; a loving and committed husband; a proud uncle of four and great uncle of two; a tireless friend; an honest and giving advisor! Rex moved along life’s journey, offering his all to both friends and strangers.

Rex was survived by his loving wife, Gina (Enriquez) Morrison; siblings: Geraldine Kelly (James), Reginald Morrison, Roy Williams; nieces and nephews: Yolanda Ervin, Regina Wilkins (Charles), Marlon Morrison, David Morrison; great-niece and great-nephew: Olivia Wilkins and Charlie Wilkins; father-in-law: Catalino Enriquez; siblings-in-law: Ma. Girlie Gonzales; nephew: Felichino Gonzales (Jeanette); and great nephew: Lucas Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents: Aaron and Ruby Morrison; brother: Aaron Morrison, Jr.; grandparents: Eph McQueen and Queen Victoria McQueen; and close friend: Robert Caltabiano.

A funeral service to celebrate Rex is to be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, beginning at 1:00 PM at Reflections Chapel in Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall location. A gathering of friends and loved ones will precede the service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow the funeral service in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, Texas.
