James “Jim” Lynn Hedgpeth

James (Jim) Lynn Hedgpeth, 81, was born in Dallas, Texas on August 7, 1941, and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022. He was lovingly adopted by James Austin Hedgpeth and Mattie Belle LouVorn Hedgpeth. He was a loving little brother to his sister Katherine “Mickey” Bell.

Jim Graduated from Samuel High School in 1959, and later joined the army reserves in 1967. Jim worked at Sears Roebuck for 30 years and spent the last 20 years of his career in sales at Valley View Mall. Once he retired, he enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, and taking the occasional cruise. When at home he loved to watch his favorite sports teams, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Stars.

Jim was welcomed into heaven by those who preceded him in death; his mother and father, James and Mattie Hedgpeth, his sister Katherine Bell, and stepdaughter Carolyn Horsley Behling. He is survived by his loving wife Janie Hedgpeth, his children, Cynthia Hedgpeth Pressley, and James Hedgpeth, his stepchildren, Kim Sharber Jobe, and Jason Sharber. He was blessed with grandchildren, Krystal and Suzy Behling whom he and Janie lovingly raised after the death of their mother, Austin and Hunter Hedgpeth, Cailey and Carley Kidman, Justin and Jevin Sharber, and Tristan Jobe. His great grandchildren, Peighton Behling, Addilyn and Alayah Martinez, Kinsley Sharber, and Leilani Vaughn.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home of Rockwall. A funeral service will be held at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home of Rockwall on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
