Barbara Jean Sullivan, age 88 of Royse City, TX, passed away January 31, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 7, 1933, in Kemp, TX, to Albert and Maude (Duncan) Mitchell. Barbara was an angel, a servant of the Lord, who had deep faith in her Lord and Savior. She was a woman with a very loving nature who was gentle and welcoming to all. Barbara never judged others, but was always friendly and pleasant. She was the Matriarch of the family and was also fondly known as “Nanny.” In her spare time, she was quite the adventurer and loved traveling. Most of all, she loved her family and would do anything for them. Barbara will be deeply missed.
Barbara spent her childhood on a farm in Kaufman County. She had wonderful memories of growing up with her six siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as many cats, dogs, and other farm animals. She graduated from Kemp High School and moved to Dallas where she worked for Southwestern Bell. There, she met and married Leonard H. Green on October 3,1951. Leonard passed away on May 25, 1982.
In 1984, she married Earl Sullivan and they, too, had many happy years together. After they both retired, they were able to travel around the country in their RV on numerous adventures. Earl and Barbara had a passion for genealogy and created a written legacy cherished by their families.
“Nanny” was adored by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She adored them as well. They are all blessed with countless treasured memories of their Nanny.
She is survived by two daughters: Karla Schneider and husband Jim, and Karen Malone and husband Mike; grandchildren: Amanda Bruce and husband Kevin, Valeri Jayroe and husband Shelby, Michael Wade Malone and wife Tia, Dylan Malone and husband Ty, Alec Schneider and wife Rachel, and Madelyn Malone; great-grandchildren: Victoria, Jackson, Laynee, Nicholas and Emmree; two stepsons: Keith Sullivan and wife Mary and family; Noel Sullivan and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband: Leonard H. Green; second husband: Earl D. Sullivan; and grandson: Brandon Stalcup.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 11, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location. Interment will follow in Kaufman Cemetery, Kaufman, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday morning, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am.
