Don Howland, age 70 of Van Alstyne, TX, and previously of Rowlett, passed away December 29, 2021. He was born November 2, 1951, in Clarksville, TX, to Hoyt and Doris (Shoulders) Howland. Don was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Don retired from the Dallas Morning News after 30 years devoted service. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and made a workshop in his garage where he built things for family and friends, from end tables to an entertainment center. He was a positive influence on everyone and he will be deeply missed.

Don is survived by his daughter: Jodiann Howland of Rowlett, TX; grandchildren: Shailyn and Devyn Walpool; great grandson: Savior King Walpool; sisters: Ann Williams and husband Jim of Commerce, TX, and Terri Howland of Paris, TX; brother, Ron Mooneyham, Van Alstyne, TX, niece: Amanda Norman; nephew: Stephen Norman; sons-in-love: Renaldo Mack and Carlton Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cynthia Howland, son-in-law Dexter Walpool, and nephew Craig Williams.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 pm Monday, March 21, 2022, at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett with Pastor Tim Williams officiating.
