William “Bill” G. Wofford Obituary

William G. “Bill” Wofford, Jr., age 95 of Rockwall, TX, passed away October 29, 2019. He was born May 1, 1924, in Fort Worth, TX, to William Graves Wofford Sr. and Margaret Melinda (Thomason) Wofford. He proudly served his country in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. After World War II, Bill graduated from Georgia Tech and made his 27-year career as a principal with his partner Bob Timberlake in Timberlake & Wofford, a manufacturing representative firm serving north Texas.

Bill was known for his great sense of humor as well as his gentle, kind and humble personality. He was very tender-hearted and had great loyalty, strength, class, and inquisitiveness. Bill loved to sail and was a founding member and former Commodore of Rush Creek Yacht Club.

He is survived by his daughter: Caryl Wofford Everett and husband Ken; son: John Wofford and wife Linda; grandchildren: Christopher Ware, David Ware, Wendy Ware Bishop, Kevin Everett, Jennifer Everett, Kristen Jacobs, Amy Coker, Kate Wofford and Ben Wofford; eight great-grandchildren; and sister: Linda Swanson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wives: Mabel H. Wofford and Nell “Ti” Wofford; and brother: Benjamin Wofford.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 9, 2019, in Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday evening, November 8, 2019, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
