Eddie Conrad (E.C.) Meil, age 97, of Rockwall, TX passed away on October 30, 2019. He was born February 2, 1922, in Post, TX, to Conrad Lucas Eddie Meil and Clara Yeager Meil. He graduated from Ropesville High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his time in the military E. C. returned home to farm. In 1952 he moved to Parmer County and bought a farm. He met Patsy Loflin and they married in 1954. E.C. and Patsy had three children, Eddie Bob, Jill & Bart. In 1961 E.C. and Patsy moved their family to Hutchinson County. His plan to only farm there for two years ended up being 30. E.C. was an exceptional farmer with high standards and a strong work ethic. Neighbors would say, “If you can work for Eddie Meil you can work for anyone.” Eddie enjoyed hunting during each hunting season. He also enjoyed taking his family to the Astro Baseball games whenever there was enough rain to turn off the irrigation wells. In 1990 E.C. retired and he and Patsy moved to Rockwall to be closer to their children.

During retirement, he was a member of the Rockwall County Honor Guard. A major highlight was in 2012 when he went to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight, an organization that honors WWII vets. E.C. was a long-time faithful member of Rockwall First Baptist Church. He served as an usher and greeter for many years.

Family time was very important to E.C. He loved family dinners to celebrate birthdays and other special events. During the Christmas holiday, E.C. loved to prepare his special fried shrimp dinner for his family. He also loved to play cards after mealtime. His laughter and shenanigans during the games will be deeply missed.

E. C. is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patsy Loflin Meil; daughter, Jill Robinson of Dallas, TX; son, Bart Meil and his wife Leslie of Allen, TX; grandchildren, Ben Robinson, Adam Robinson, Chloe and Collin Cooper, and Austin Meil and Grace Meil. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eddie Bob; and son-in-law, Mark Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2109, at Rockwall First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad St. Rockwall, TX 75087. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Rockwall FBC building fund.
