Alice Y. Townson Obituary

Alice Y. Townson, 85, went home to the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Alice was born on September 25, 1933, in Monroe, Louisiana to Jackson Smallwood Young and Lelia Pitrat Young. Alice graduated from Byrd High School where she was captain of the State Champion doubles and mixed doubles tennis team. Alice met the love of her life, Joseph Herman Townson, at a local swimming pool and have been inseparable ever since. Together they graduated from Louisiana Tech University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She and Joe married while in college and enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage while raising a family and creating many lasting memories.

Alice was the rock of her family, loving deeply and being loved in return. She was a proud military wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Alice and Joe were life long members of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport where they raised their children. After moving to Heath Texas in 2012 they became members of the First United Methodist Church in Heath. Alice enjoyed traveling, shopping and adored spending time with her grandchildren who were the lights of her life. Alice was devoted to her family, had a wonderful sense of humor. loved animals and was always up for an adventure. Her beautiful smile, loving heart, and generous spirit will be missed by all who loved her.

Alice is survived by her husband, Joseph Herman Townson, son: Mark Alan Townson (wife Dorothy), daughters: Becky Townson Adams (husband John Greening), Sharon Townson LaRoux (husband Ron) and Jennifer Townson Allen (husband Chris); grandchildren: Kimberly Jackson (husband Ken), Emily Fort (husband Blake), Tanner, Collin and Cameron Greening, Jackson, Christopher and Townson LaRoux, Parker and Cooper Allen; three great-grandchildren; brother Robert S. Young (wife Hyacinth); niece Elizabeth Young, and best friend Bethe Trigg. Alice was preceded in death by her parents. We have no doubt that Alice (Nana) is looking over us all and proudly showing off pictures of her family to all the other angels. We love you mom and take comfort knowing we will be together again one day.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church, 144 Smirl Drive, Heath Texas 75032. Interment with the family will follow at 11:30 am in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas TX 75211.
