Darryl Wayne Davis, age 53, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away on September 11, 2019. He was born March 8, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, to Roger Glenn Davis and Judith Faye (Griffin) Davis. Darryl was a Rockwall resident for 20 years and he attended Lakeshore Church. He was known for his gospel singing. Darryl chose the songs he sang based on his life, when you related to what he sang, you knew you were not alone.
Darryl stood firm in his Christian faith and set an example to all who met him. He had a big laugh, a big hug, and a bigger heart. He loved everyone. Darryl worked hard all his life, taking pride in all he did. No shortcuts were ever taken. He was always willing to help other people and able to see the best in them when others couldn’t. He was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and a Friend to Ministers.
Darryl is survived by his loving wife of 31 years: Jan Davis; son: Jacob Allen Davis and wife Madison Paige; daughter: Jessica Annette McKenzie and husband Taran Lee; grandson: Gavin Davis; parents: Roger and Judy Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ben E. George and Polly; brother: Greg Davis and wife Tommi; nieces and nephews: Megan, Cody, Katee, Melissa, and Amy; and great-nieces and nephews: Summer and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rev. C.R. and Francis Davis, and Allen and Gladys Griffin.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Christian Center of Mesquite, 4401 E Cartwright Rd, Mesquite, TX 75181. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
